Why the week is the right unit
A day is too short to see a pattern and a month is too long to act on one. The week is the only planning unit that is both useful and honest: on Monday you can see that Thursday is already full, which is information you can still do something with.
What the layout does differently
Seven columns with genuinely open writing space, rather than an hourly grid. Most people’s days are defined by a few fixed times with unpredictable gaps between them, and a timed grid mostly generates guilt about the hours you did not account for.
A small priorities column sits alongside the week. Three priorities, not thirty — most weeks fail from having no stated priority rather than from poor time-blocking.
The habit that makes it work
Fill it on Sunday evening or Monday morning; ten minutes is enough. Write the three priorities before the appointments, because if you do it the other way round the appointments will eat them.
Anything undone by Friday either moves deliberately or gets deleted. Carrying a task silently from week to week is how a list turns into background noise you stop reading.
Two sizes, depending on how much you write
The full Weekly Planner has substantially more room per day and includes a meals row and an end-of-week reflection. The single-page weekly sheet is the same seven columns stripped to their core, and is the cheapest way to find out whether weekly planning suits you before buying anything larger.
Print four or five single sheets and clip them together — that is a month for about the price of a coffee.
